Job Description
The Director, Tax is responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining the overall taxation strategy and tactics for Lupin’s US business operations with the intent of optimizing the Company’s tax position globally. The Director will handle all matters relating to routine submissions to tax authorities and compliance with documentation requirements of international taxes emanating from the US, and will advise on the structuring of investments, acquisitions, licenses, corporate entities, etc. to ensure optimal tax treatment. The Director will work closely with Global Tax counterparts in the development and execution of global tax planning initiatives and will ensure compliance with all applicable policies and regulations. The Director will maintain effective working relationships with senior management across the global organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensuring compliance with domestic tax laws including review of tax assessments, conduct of mock audits and handling tax reviews by tax authorities
• Preparation and submission of all routine and non-routine tax returns and other filings as required by domestic and international tax regulations
• Structuring of investments, acquisitions, licensing transactions to optimize tax position
• Maintenance of transfer pricing policies of products and services across geographies
• Tax planning for expatriates employed by non-US-based operating companies
• Contribute to planning and execution of global tax initiatives
• Generate ad hoc reports and analytics as needed
• Other projects, tasks and assignments as directed
Qualification and Experience
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA; Masters degree in taxation preferred
• 10+ years of large corporate tax experience through industry or Big-4 firms
• Thorough knowledge of US tax laws, including international tax issues impacting the US such as transfer pricing and tax treaties
• Detail-oriented; excellent research and analytical skills
• Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively cross-functionally with at all levels of management; team player
• Proactive, motivated, analytical and strategic thinker with a “roll up your sleeves” attitude and requiring limited management oversight
Physical Requirements
• Ability to remain in a stationary position and work at a computer for extended periods.
• Ability to review contracts, supplier proposals, financial analyses, and procurement reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, suppliers, and business partners in person, by telephone, and through virtual meeting platforms.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 20–25%).
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
